My parents have been researching their respective family history for several years, and have, in some lines, managed to trace their families back almost to the time of the Norman conquest. This makes the Shaw side of the family look very bare! However, time permitting, I may be able to remedy this - at least partly. Cheshire BMD

A source of tracing Births, Marriages and Deaths within Cheshire.

Darlington BMD

Births, Marriages and Deaths recorded in the Darlington area.

Findmypast

A subscription site for the complete Births, Marriages and Deaths index from 1837. It also has Census records 1841-1911, Parish records, migration records, etc.

FreeREG

Parish Registers prior to the introduction of national records in 1837. (The site is still being tested - it may start working some time!)

Search the GRO Indices. Information is incomplete and is being updated all the time.

Census Information

When pages from the 1901 census are downloaded,you may find other families on the page, which may very well be of use to someone else. So various transcribers have donated their "leftovers" to this site, for the benefit of others.

Missing Ancestors

Information on industrial/reformatory schools & the like in England and Wales during the 19th and early 20th century. Work is being done on Scotland. Information extracted from UK census returns (excluding 1881), juvenile court registers, Pentonville remand centre admissions register, county council registers and various individual schools admissions and discharge registers.
