Stockport Symphony Orchestra

Unfortunately the Stockport Symphony Orchestra still cannot produce an accessible web page- they use "Serif WebPlus" to create their web page which has produced a page which (for developers this:) has a FIXED VIEWPORT!!!!! and it is extremely inaccessible utterly ignoring discrimination laws (which are NEVER enforced anyway). The current version has details as images ONLY with no alt text. Not nice.

All details are subject to change with no notice.

The 2017-2018 season- the 40th

All concerts start at 7.30pm, you should aim to arrive before 7.15pm. Stockport Town Hall- use Edward Street entrance.

ADMISSION; Eleven Pounds

Saturday 11th November 2017- Elgar, Schumann Cello Cto, Elgar Sym 1. The cellists name is obscured by graphics and illegible even as an image. There is no fallback text.

December 2017- Program secret but there will be a soprano present and a tenor, so singing alert. A significantly different presentation to their past Christmas celebrations.

Saturday 27th January 2018- Dvorak, Martinu Sym 2, Saint-Saens Sym 3. Conductor Wyn Davies. Organist R Brocklehurst.

Saturday 17th February 2018 - Sibelius, Tchaikovsky Violin Cto, Brahms Sym 1.

Saturday 24th March 2018- Rachmaninov, Khachaturian (Masquerade), Rimsky Korsakov (graphics again triumph over legibility on the title of the piece- illegible).

Saturday 20th May 2018- Elgar, Brahms, Mozart Sym 40.

Saturday 9th June 2018-Stravinsky, Rachmaninov, Shostakovich Sym 9. Pianist Tom Hicks.

Due to ongoing deterioration in the SSO website and problems finding out what they are playing when, and a suggestion by the band in a mailing that buying tickets on the door is to be considered risky, I will not be covering their concerts after the end of this season.
